Think of a business or organization that you admire, then describe two examples of how that business is supported by information systems. For example, do they use it for operational excellence ? Or do they use it to create new products and services ?

Here are the two examples:

Example 1.

McDonald’s is a successful business in Hong Kong.Their restaurant found all over the world. There are more

than two hundred restaurants in Hong Kong.People in Hong Kong are always busy.It is one of the reason for

fast food shop become more and more popular.Another reason for McDonald’s to be succeed is the

advertisement on internet and television.When there is a new product,they will promote by advertising on the

television program.Moreover,they will invite some popular idols to act at their advertisement.When the

advertisement play.

McDonald’s company notice that advertising on the television programme is not the unique way to promote their product all around.So they also have promotion though internet.We can see there is the menu in their website and it also include the food pictures.They will update the lastest information to the website for example some special offer and some E-cards and wall paper for visitors to download.It is free for download.We can see that it is a good way to promote the products and advertising.A website is free way to introduce more about their company.Another function is the advertising on the television programme can be replay on the website.It is also free.We can see that the business is supported by information system.

Another example of business is supported by information system is Broadway circuit. Their website shows the information about the address of their cinemas and the showing films. There is a service for people to order a ticket on the internet. It is a convenient way for customer’s patronages. When people are in the working hour, they may not have time to buy ticket by taking a queue. Or before some public holiday and festival, the customers can by ticket easily though their online service without taking a queue. So the Broadway cinema provides the online booking service can make their business become success.
They know that most of their customs are someone has to work. So they the online booking service to bring their customer more convenience. When someone wants to buy ticket though their website, he must be sign up for the member of broadway circuit. After a customer sign up as a member, the broadway circuit will send them advertisement regularly or even give them some coupons though their email account. It can push the customers come again. So it is a good way to promote their business though information system.
